The Margary & Miller Partnership is a long established legal practice with offices in Woodbridge, Felixstowe and Southwold in Suffolk.
Our Woodbridge and Southwold offices have been in practice for more than 100 years. Our Felixstowe office has been open for over 40 years and our Melton office was opened in 2007, specifically to serve our Wills, Trusts and Probate clients.
Our good name and reputation has been built on reliability, customer service and flexibility. We pride ourselves on the quality of our advice, backed up by our legal expertise, local knowledge, and up-to-date technology.
All our services are dedicated around our client relationship, which is that of mutual trust and understanding. Communication is the key to this relationship, as is our personal and professional approach. We provide a wide range of legal services on an individual and easily accessible local basis. The partnership comprises two partners, a team of qualified solicitors, legal executives and other experienced legal personnel, all supported by a full team of legal administrators.
Meet the Team
Stephen Leach

Qualified as a solicitor in 1973, having completed his Articles with a London firm of solicitors. In 1978 he joined Margary & Miller to open up their office in Woodbridge.
He was involved in the merger of Margary & Miller and Hubbard & Co in 2001. He has dealt with most areas of non-contentious work, but since the merger in 2001 has concentrated primarily on commercial and residential law as well as advising on private client matters.

David Gaffney
Partner in the Southwold Office of Margary and Miller Solicitors since 1994. Qualified Solicitor for over 30 years with partnership experience in a regional city practice before coming to Southwold.
David’s specialist areas of law are Trusts Charities and Property Work. David has been a Southwold resident for over 20 years and is a Trustee of several local Charities including Southwold Trust, Paisley Charitable Trust and the John Gilpin Trust.
David is a member of the Southwold Rotary Club having been secretary and treasurer, and president on two occasions, including in 2010. David is also a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

Roger Loomes

Claims Manager based in the Felixstowe Office, Roger has over 25 years experience in general and personal injury litigation. He manages our long-standing specialist Accident Claims Department which he was instrumental in setting up. A member of Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and the Motor Accident Solicitors Society, Roger currently enjoys handling a diverse range of personal injury cases.
Outside work he is kept busy by his four daughters, and when time permits, enjoys watching and playing sports, being a keen golfer. He loves the theatre (both on and off stage) and is involved in his local Church.

Lindsay Duckworth

A solicitor who has been in private practice for thirty years. Lindsay heads our Private Client Department in Woodbridge and Melton. Lindsay deals with Probate and Wills but also deals with specific areas of law relating to elderly clients, including Lasting Powers of Attorney.
Lindsay is a member of Solicitors for the Elderly, an association of lawyers specialising in legal services for older people and their carers, whose aim is to improve the knowledge and service provided on legal issues, particularly for the elderly.
Lindsay is married with two grown up children and her hobbies including reading, walking
and gardening.

Tim Pryke

A solicitor with nearly 30 years experience of helping clients through the trauma of separation and divorce. Tim can provide clear and practical advice suited to your own particular circumstances with an emphasis upon finding solutions which are the right ones for you.
Tim is a member of Resolution, a national network of experienced family law specialists committed to serving their client’s best interests by seeking to resolve disagreements with former partners/spouses through a process of dialogue and discussion, which leaves their dignity and self respect intact. Tim is also an advocate of the collaborative approach to resolving family disputes.

Rachel Cronin

Qualified in 1994, Rachel has previously worked for large national and regional firms before joining Margary + Miller in 2007. Rachel has a broad range of litigation experience, handling a wide variety of commercial and property disputes, contested probate and financial irregularity matters.
Rachel will look to offer practical advice to resolve disputes and seeks to resolve issues without the need for court proceedings where suitable. Rachel has recently joined the Felixstowe Chamber of Commerce.
She lives near Ipswich and enjoys spending time with her two children and is forever trying to redecorate and modernise her home.

Phil McLauchlan

Qualified as a solicitor with Margary & Miller in 2003. Phil deals with both Residential and Commercial Property matters.
Phil deals with transactions on behalf of companies and individuals, such as the leasing of public houses from breweries, the acquisition of new and existing leases of high street premises and the purchases of shared ownership properties. Phil also has many years experience of acting for clients in the purchasing and selling of residential property.
Phil likes to spend time with his wife, carry out renovations and DIY on their new house, go to the cinema, and listen to classic rock.

Kristie Svoboda

Kristie has been with the firm for over 15 years and qualified as a Solicitor in 2009 having previously qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives.
Kristie specialises in private client work including probate and administration of estates, wills, and lasting powers of attorney. She is happy to visit elderly or immobile clients at home.
Kristie supports cancer charities and is a committee member for Children with Leukaemia’s Amazing Great Children’s Party.

Stevan Stratton

Qualified as a Solicitor in 2009. He specialises in personal injury claims, general civil litigation and employment law.
Stevan often represents clients in personal injury claims on a ‘no win, no fee’ basis. He also deals with disputes and consumer claims relating to issues such as debt recovery, financial mis-selling and landlord and tenant disputes.
Stevan can advise and act in relation to employment law matters, such as compromise agreements, unfair dismissal and redundancy claims.
A keen footballer, Stevan also enjoys playing the guitar and piano in his spare time.

John Patston
A Probate and Trusts specialist with 45 years experience, John spent 30 years with an Executor and Trust department at one of the large banks followed by private practice thereafter. One of his main missions is to save clients as much Inheritance Tax as possible!
Many years ago he was an international cyclist of some repute – nine times national champion. John was a voluntary fundraiser for Age Concern/Help the Aged raising considerable sums. His hobbies include keeping fit and pottering.

Helen Davis
Joined Margary & Miller in 1996 as a secretary and has since qualified as a Paralegal specialising in Civil Litigation and Personal Injury. She currently deals with road traffic accident and personal injury cases.
Helen enjoys playing tennis, travelling, reading and spending time with family and friends.

Louise Green
Louise joined the firm in 2003, and has since gained a City & Guilds qualification in paralegal studies. Louise is a Conveyancer, dealing with freehold/leasehold domestic sales and purchases, from clients’ initial instructions through to completion. She also deals with voluntary registrations. Louise hopes to further her studies in the legal profession.
Out of working hours, Louise enjoys spending time with her family, listening to music, and reading.
